Nvidia Powers India Deep Tech Alliance: A New Era for AI Innovation
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Nvidia has become one of the founding members and a strategic technical advisor for the India Deep Tech Alliance (IDTA), as it has helped push an investment commitment into India’s deep-tech startup ecosystem to over $100 million. The consortium, which was formed in September 2025 with $1 billion of capital committed to the initiative, now includes new partners such as Qualcomm Ventures, Activate AI, InfoEdge Ventures, Chiratae Ventures, and Kalaari Capital, who together have committed over $850 million of additional capital to support India’s deep-tech startups. The full capital commitments of the consortium now exceed $2 billion, supporting innovation in research-intensive sectors, including artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, space technologies, robotics, and biotechnology.

Nvidia’s contribution is technical advice, and a financial stake perspective doesn’t drive its part in the initiative. The company will offer deep technical guidance, as well as training and support in policy terms, to help Indian startups incorporate its AI and high-performance computing technology. Startups will participate in workshops, technical talks, and receive developer enablement support at Nvidia’s Deep Learning Institute to help them grow and mature their technology. The involvement of policy makers, investors and entrepreneurs in the deployment of AI needs to be responsible, he said. Vishal Dhupar, Nvidia’s Managing Director - South Asia, underscored Nvidia’s commitment to intervene not only in technological entrepreneurship but also work with #policy makers, investors and entrepreneurs to ensure that it is responsibly deployed.

The India Deep Tech Alliance aims to address a significant funding gap in deep-tech startups within India — companies that have longer gestation periods, substantial capital requirements, and uncertain commercial returns, which have typically been overlooked by venture capital to date. However, despite deep-tech funding reaching $1.6 billion (a 78% growth) in 2023, it accounted for only about one-fifth of the total $7.4 billion raised by overall Indian startups, revealing a need for focused handholding. The alliance intends to invest its own funds over 5-10 years, providing mentorship, access to industry, and a network to fast-track the development of emerging technologies vital for India’s economic growth and technological self-reliance.

This coincides with a new $12 billion push announced by the Indian government to support research and development, especially for sectors that align with national strategic interests, such as semiconductors and AI. Renowned industry figures such as Sriram Viswanathan, Founding Managing Partner, Celesta Capital and a prominent member of the IDTA, have said that the depth of AI and computing technology knowledge brought by Nvidia will be enormously beneficial to the alliance ecosystem that includes not just investors but also startups, providing a boost for India in its pursuit to lead global deep tech innovation.

In short, by joining the India Deep Tech Alliance, Nvidia has delivered a significant win for the deep-tech ecosystem in India – world-beating AI expertise, training capabilities, and strategic guidance are now being deployed at scale to help bring investors and startups together. The pact is likely to accelerate innovation in future technology areas, strengthen India’s self-reliance in strategic technology sectors, and help it emerge as a global powerhouse of advanced technologies.
