Pakistan Closes Airspace as India’s Trishul 2025 Exercise Escalates Tensions

Since the Trishul 2025 exercise in India, relations with Pakistan have worsened at the border. To prepare for the military exercise, Islamabad has closed some of its airspace. From October 30 to November 10, 2025, the Trishul exercise will take place in the Rann of Kutch area of Gujarat, close to the Sir Creek border. The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force will all be involved in this big operation.

Pakistan sent out a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) a few days before the exercise started because India said it would. From October 28 to 29, this made it hard for some planes to use some air traffic routes in its central and southern airspace. Pakistan is concerned about India’s drills and is watching them closely. That’s why they have raised airspace restrictions to 28,000 feet over important strategic areas near the Sindh region. YouTube

The Indian Armed Forces conduct the Trishul exercise to demonstrate their ability to work together across different situations, including cyber and electronic warfare, amphibious operations off the coast of Saurashtra, and attacks in deserts and creeks. It shows that India believes in “self-reliance” and is looking for new ways to keep itself safe. The Southern Command troops are taking part, which shows that working together can succeed in many difficult situations.

The Sir Creek area is a marshy estuary that divides Gujarat from Sindh province in Pakistan. It has been a flashpoint for a long time because it is essential to naval operations and to accessing energy resources in the Arabian Sea. After India’s Operation Sindoor, which was a joint attack on terrorist camps and military bases in Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terror attack in early 2025, Pakistan was more careful. The restrictions it puts on airspace make this clear.

Rajnath Singh, India’s Defense Minister, made it clear that India is apprehensive about the situation along its strategic border when he visited a base not long ago. He also told Pakistan that any violence in the Sir Creek area would get a response strong enough to “change both history and geography.” India and Pakistan are not getting along very well right now. There are military signals and safety measures in place, such as reciprocal airspace NOTAMs and large-scale military drills.  Pakistan’s restrictions on Indian airspace before the Trishul 2025 tri-service exercise are a sign that military tensions between the two countries are worsening. The big exercise in India is meant to show that its military is ready to work together to fight in a strategically important area. Pakistan’s countermeasures, on the other hand, show that it is more worried and willing to keep a close eye on Indian military movements, and maybe even take action.
