Modi Unveils Kerala-Karnataka’s Game-Changing High-Speed Vande Bharat Rail

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will run the Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express on November 8, 2025,visiting South India and giving a fast mode of travel by cutting more than two hours from the current travel time. The latest service, which will connect Kerala’s largest commercial and IT hub Kochi with the Karnataka state capital Bengaluru, will pass through important destinations of Tamil Nadu. The journey time for the train would be 8 hours and 40 minutes – much faster than present options.

Significance of the Vande Bharat Express for Kerala and Karnataka

The train inauguration, which is Kerala’s first Vande Bharat inter-state connection and the state’s third Vande Bharat train, is set to improve Kerala’s rail connectivity with the southern parts adjacent. It will enable professionals, students as well as visitors to move around the region faster and more progressively contributing to economic development whilst enhancing tourism. This is part of 12 Vande Bharat pairs on the network under Southern Railway, which will further strengthen semi-high-speed rail corridor in South India.

Inauguration Details and Operation Plan

Railways are also launching four new Vande Bharat trains today, as a part of the mission to improve rail connectivity in the country.
