K. Krithivasan, the CEO of TCS, has strongly rejected forecasts that India’s IT services industry will become outdated by 2030. He pointed out that the industry is still strong despite recent revenue drops and advances in AI.times of India.

CEO’s Rebuttal to Doomsday Claims

According to the The Economic Times, Krithivasan told the publication that Indian IT had received beauty countless obituaries since each decade, and a real death of Indian IT is not possible since “there are very deep skill sets beyond cost that are embedded” in the sector. Enterprises will turn to firms such as TCS for the right guidance to deploy AI in a pragmatic fashion, he said, given that technology is evolving at a phenomenal pace and there is often a disconnect between this and real business adoption. TCS Chief Operating Officer Aarthi Subramanian for her part, said: “In the case of AI, there is a lot of opportunity for legacy modernization in the case of mainframes — where we have experience — and also the case of productivity.

First-Ever Annual Revenue Decline

TCS dollar revenues fell 2.4% in FY26—the first drop in dollar revenues for the company since it went public in 2004—as global tech spending slowed as macro uncertainties remained for three years. Krithivasan said much of the decline was due to the end of a major transformation program at Q1, with three quarters of continued growth, and a stronger international revenue mix. Still, the broader Indian information technology index lost some 20% in the last year as clients started to ask for “more for less” under the pressure of AI.

Strong Order Book and AI Momentum

TCS recorded the highest-ever TCV of $40.7 billion in FY26 including the $12 billion in Q4 indicating strong deal momentum Despite losing 2% of its workforce last year, the company hired 44,000 trainees and purchased US-based SF firm Coastal Cloud for $700 million — largest acquisition for over 10 years.
